Liu Fushun on security of the boxing event
(Beijing, November 21) Liu Fushun, deputy director of security of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 International Boxing Invitational Tournament, gave a brief account today of the security measures taken for the six-day event.
Since the beginning of the tournament, Liu said, no major security incident has occurred, to the great relief of the security team of the venue made up of veterans from the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau Dongcheng Branch.
According to Liu, a total of 106 camera eyes have been installed in and outside the competition venue and spectators zone. In addition, ultrared rays have been installed inside and all around the venue and armed police are going on patrol to prevent outsiders from intruding.
"In the past five days," Liu concluded, "nothing serious happened except some minor clashes between security workers and spectators, which were soon mediated by the police on duty."
