(BEIJING, November, 14) -- Careful spectators may find the original hollowed-out relief intact on the main entrance of the Workers' Indoor Arena.

The sculpture work depicts how the elder Chinese practice traditional martial arts and teenage girls play shuttlecocks. The figures look vivid after being polished with fresh colors in a process of renovation and expansion for the 54-year-old project, reputedly one of China's Top Ten Architectural buildings in the 1950s and 1960s.

Built for the 26th World Table Tennis Championships, the Workers' Indoor Arena has a typical suspended-cable ceiling structure with a span of 94 meters, still a stylish structure nowadays. The renovators decided to keep its unique features as they were improving its functions to meet the demands of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2008.

The 13,000 seat and 40,200 sq m venue for the Olympic boxing and Paralympic judo events is slated to hold the 2007 Good Luck Beijing International Boxing Invitational Tournament from November 17-22.
