Russian Ignat'ev eyes the 60kg championship
(Beijing, November 19) The 60kg quarterfinals of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 International Boxing Invitational Tournament were held at the Beijing Workers' Indoor Arena on November 19. Maxim Ignat'ev of Russia knocked out his Philippine opponent Joegin Ladon to continue his fight for the gold medal.
The young Russian boxer showed his good form from the beginning and dominate the scene throughout the match. He grabbed the win with a final score of 33-19, after leading each round by 7-5, 15-9 and 27-12 respectively.
Speaking of his performance today, Ignat'ev said: "Joegin Ladon is a good boxer with excellent skills. But I was in better form so I won." Ignat'ev also said that he had come to Beijing to win the championship in the 60kg category.
