Dmitry Ivanov aims at winning a medal in Olympics
(Beijing, November 22) Dmitry Ivanov of Russia beat Kanat Orakbayev of Kazakhstan to win the 69kg final of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 International Boxing Invitational Tournament today at the Beijing Workers' Indoor Arena. In the post-match interview Ivanov said he performed well in the final and hoped to earn a medal in the 2008 Olympic Games.
In the final, Ivanov gained control over the situation with 14-9 after the second round. Entering the third round, Ivanov maintained his superiority by leading 24-14. The fourth round was a one-sided match with Ivanov easily claiming the title 34-15.
After the match Ivanov said: "This was my first fight with Orakbayev and he did very well. But I was luckier and I'm happy to win."
Commenting on what he had learned from this tournament, he said: "I gained a lot of experience through this tournament. Now I will aim at winning a medal in next year's Olympic Games."
